Experience
The DLSA Level Progression and all the
lessons plans within it are designed and
maintained by Olympic swimmer and Commonwealth
Games gold and silver medalist Darren Lange.
From 1991 to 2000 Darren was a regular member
of the Australian National Swim Team
representing Australia no less than 12 times in
elite international competition.
The years spent analysis and perfecting the
skill of swimming is passed on to Team DLSA
Teaching and Coaching staff and thus the 1000's
of young swimmers they then teach.
Darren's detailed knowledge of Bio-Mechanics
and how it relates to moving through the water
has helped to develop a gradual progression of
skill that will enable every person
participating in the program to achieve his or
her absolute best possible results.
Darren's philosophy is not that everyone
should strive to become elite competitors but
that if we (the DLSA) are going to do the job...
We are going to do it right!
While a very high level of theoretical and
practical knowledge of swimming techniques and
competitive racing is imperative to provide a
'total/well rounded program', it's Darren's
teaching experience that has married his unique
expertise to the task of teaching young swimmers
the best way to swim.
Darren started teaching learn-to-swim at 13
years of age within a club program and has
always enjoyed working with children. When
Darren created the DLSA in 1994 he continued to
develop his unique Level Progression drawing
upon his experience as an elite competitor.
These days the DLSA Program conducts more
than 1,500 lessons per week in our Private
Program and more than 2,000 lessons per week in
our School Program. In order to cater for the
demand while maintaining our high standards,
Darren has developed extensive hiring and team
training policies to ensure that the person who
pull on a DLSA Teaching Shirt is able to live up
to the DLSA standard.
There are more that 33 members of Team DLSA
each of whom bring their own experience and
knowledge to the program and under the watchful
eye of Darren Lange, who is always looking to
improve, the program continues to develop and
evolve.
